Last night I finished her... and then changed her a bit... bigger mouth, no highlight in the eye. I was slightly dissatisfied, until we met this morning and she looks great!
Let's hope both Ildas will get along...

Marilda & Ronilda - Finished

The twins have taken over the guest's room and are certainly planning some mischief...

What happens with a bit of tutoring... you can't be lazy and ignore angles and proportions! And it is rather satisfying... I guess until the habit is formed the stick is a great tool...

Something new

Last month during one of the 2 min sessions I was so tired my hand moved without much thought... and something amazing (to me) was created... the hint of a personal style!

Starting Over

I was going to fix the old image, for I really did not like the wave, but ... it niggled. I am starting all over... and funny thing is, now the woman is much better... I did nothing about her in the last 2 weeks, all this improvement is not the result of extra practise. Yet, the more I work on my waves, the more frustrated I get as progress just is not happening in the same pace.

WAVES - yet again

The difference between these 2 pictures is a bit of "sponge work" and scratchings on the paper using a knife (I hate doing this bit - feels like cheating)... but it works so well that I think it will be the saving grace for the painting that is still waiting for a decision...

And one more!!

I am changing my thoughts about this holiday... yesterday I got one more painting into someone else's wall... the rocks from Vonnie's class are now with one of Stephen's workmates... a kitchen feature.... life is bliss

My paintings on someone else's walls!!!!!!!!

I have tried selling paintings... rather unsuccessfully.
This week, my sister-in-law happily took Stephen's shed to her daughter in Christchurch and my shed will go to her place (don't we just ADORE her!!). Then, my friend Catherine saw the beach scene and fell for it - of course it was happily given to her.

Funniest thing of all - when I took Victor to visit Catherine he did not recognise the painting and commented on how nice that looked (BLISS).

Those were the best gifts some one could give me. I now have 2 paintings sitting on someone else's wall!!

Waves of obsession...

I know I said I was happy with the previous painting... well - almost. It still does not convey what I want to ... and to be honest it is very frustrating not to be able to express what I want to express. So... for the last few days I decided to focus on waves. Here are some pictures of my efforts (for the laugh of it)... It is still not there, yet, after some "dark nights", I feel there was progress. I understand a lot more about waves than I did before... and I will keep the practise going until I can do what I really want to do (if I get anywhere near a wave such as the ones painted by Susie Short I will be happy - that is the current dream!)

I first "saw" her coming out of the water, hair flowing long, sorrows past flowing away. Then, next time she came for a visit there was more destructive power, trailing water as she destroyed cities on her wake. Last time we met, she was sorrow, made of tears... I can't paint that... but I tried and maybe in a few years I will try again. For now I will keep her like this... I worked so much on her in the last 2 days I can't look into it any more... a lot of my mistakes were tiredness (I would like to think)...

I started on Hekate 2 years ago after the fasting retreat... she started making sense this year and I have been working on and off on trying to give her face shape and to get better at doing waves. I am still not there, but it is getting closer.

Life Drawing II

After 4 weeks away I thought yesterday was going to be a disaster... but I am very pleased with the hands and feet - even the face...

Life Drawing

It may look as though I have not been doing much art this year... that is mostly true. However, I have been going to life drawing... it was a rocky beginning and some poses lead to an outburst of giggles - I fast learned that was not part of the "etiquette"...

Below are the ones that look vaguely human.

Art Class II - Shed the Sheds

Stephen and I did an art class on Sheds... our conclusion... shed them!

Top pics are mine, bottom pics are Stephen's.

Ronilda & Marilda: the twins

Just started these two... and just to prove they never come out the same. Done on the same day, with the same template for the face - yep I did change the eyes a bit...

Painting Class

During the weekend of the 24th of July I did something silly. A class on painting with acrilics. Twelve hours and 3 paintings. The pace was not leisurely, but I confess that I am somewhat pleased with the results. The paintings are available for donation if I find someone interested in them...

I have finally managed to get over my block and finish Rosilda - though she needs pants on!!

2009 Victor

I have not done much in 2009. My watercolour of Hekate did not work, but I am still thinking about it and then I started this portrait - but I don't think I worked with it since July. Lots of work to do around his mouth still...
